The Leda Mystery
Picture
Leonardo’s Leda and the Swan held me like a magnet. I couldn’t release my curiosity from this myth until I decided to paint copies of the image thinking I could learn to paint like a master. Ha! Any way I scrubbed off my efforts many times until the canvas was left with ghostly shadows. Months later with a piece of pastel I went to it and absent-mindedly marked in some extra features; a serpent, a corset, binding and flaming hair. None of which were in the original painting. Before I had a chance to remove this, someone said I should do some research on this myth. Needless to say, these elements were to be found amidst those wonderful stories of the ancients.
